The Archdemons, known to their clients as the "Friends On The Other Side", are the most powerful demons living in Hell. During the War in Heaven, they were the generals who attempted to take over Heaven and attain control over the fates of all species in the multiverse. Their leader, Lucifer, signed the Pax Primeval, allowing the Archdemons to rule over Hell and punish damned souls.

Since their exile, they have discovered passageways to the rest of the multiverse, allowing them to contact beings with similar aspirations. The Archdemons would offer these clients great power in exchange for creating fear and misery among other beings. Lucifer became convinced that if they collected enough negative energy, this would allow them to break out of hell and conquer the multiverse. If these clients were successful, they would join the Inner Circle, the Archdemons' top league of agents.
